Everything you need to know about TALINT — how it works, what makes it different, and what you actually get.

What is TALINT?

TALINT is a team performance assessment platform built from real experience selecting and leading elite special operations teams. It measures four things: what you do that moves a team forward (Role Strengths), what fuels and drains you (Fuel/Drain Map), how you send and receive information (Communication Type), and — through peer review — how the people around you actually experience your performance (Alignment).

It is not a personality quiz. It is not an HR tool. It is an operational instrument — the same standard of accuracy that governs operator selection, applied to high-performing organizations.
Who is TALINT built for?

TALINT is built for high-performing individuals and organizations that want accurate data over flattery. The primary user is self-aware, skeptical of soft tools, and wants something that actually says something real. TALINT is used in military and special operations communities, startups, consulting, elite sports, executive leadership, and competitive sales environments.

It is not for people looking for validation. It is for people who want to know.

Does TALINT assign personality types or archetypes?

TALINT does not assign archetypes, types, labels, or personality categories. Results are behavioral and dimensional — specific to how you actually operate. They will tell you how you operate, what fuels you, how you communicate, and what will trip you up under pressure.

What does TALINT cost?

The Snapshot is free — complete the assessment, your top Role Strength is revealed with full narrative, no account required. The Full Assessment is $49 — all four strengths, Fuel/Drain, Communication, Team Card, full report emailed as attachments. Peer Review is $29 as an add-on after the Full Assessment.

Is TALINT validated or scientifically certified?

TALINT is a behavioral performance instrument built from operational experience selecting and leading elite teams. It is not a clinical or psychological assessment validated for diagnostic purposes, and it is direct about that distinction.

It is designed to support self-awareness and team communication — and it is designed to be accurate, not comfortable.

How long does the assessment take?

25 to 35 minutes for the full assessment. It covers 12 scenario-based questions for Role Strengths, 16 rating items for Fuel/Drain, and 16 rating items for Communication Type. The Snapshot (free) only requires completing the assessment — no purchase needed to see your top strength.

What are the 16 Role Strengths?

The 16 Role Strengths are organized into four functional lanes:

Task Lane: Executing, Reviewing, Specializing, Versatility

Patterns Lane: Systems Design, Dot Connecting, Sensemaking, Analyzing

People Lane: Mentoring, Stabilizing, Diplomacy, Cohesion

Direction Lane: Creating, Persuasion, Standards Bearing, Truth Teller

TALINT identifies your top four by how you respond to 12 scenario-based questions. Scores are not shown to you — only your ranked strengths and their full narratives.

What is the Fuel/Drain Map?

The Fuel/Drain Map measures four dimensions of how you are wired to operate:

Project Phase — where in the lifecycle your energy peaks: Ideation, Activation, Execution, or Completion.

Social Charge — whether extended interaction energizes or costs you.

Ambiguity Tolerance — whether unclear direction engages you or slows you down.

Top Motivator — Autonomy, Validation, Results, or Mission.

There is no ideal pattern. Each output describes how you actually run — not how you should run.
What is the Communication Type profile?

Five dimensions scored Low, Functional, or High — each with a direct narrative written to you:

Contextual Awareness — do you probe for what's underneath before responding, or take information at face value?

Reception Mode — do you listen to understand or to respond?

Delivery Adaptability — do you adjust how you communicate based on who's in the room?

Friction Orientation — do you move toward tension or around it?

Medium Preference — are you sharpest in writing, live conversation, or in person?

Can I retake the assessment?

Yes. Your results may shift over time as your role, environment, or priorities change — and that shift is itself informative. Each assessment is a separate purchase. If you want to track changes over time, save your Team Card from each session.

What is the Peer Review and why does it matter?

The Peer Review ($29 add-on) sends an 18-question behavioral instrument to the people who work with you. It measures five dimensions that only become visible through real-world interaction:

Reliability, Communication Clarity, Accountability Ownership, Stress Tolerance, and Growth Orientation (broken into Seek, Receive, and Apply).

The gap between how you see yourself and how peers experience you is where most team friction lives. TALINT is the only layer that closes that gap with data.
Are peer review responses anonymous?

Responses can be anonymous — reviewers choose.

How many people should I send my peer review link to?

There is no minimum or maximum. The more people who respond, the clearer the picture. A useful baseline is 4 to 8 reviewers — a mix of teammates, direct reports, peers at the same level, and if relevant, your manager. The link is active for 30 days. You receive results by email after each submission.

Can peer review data be used against someone?

It should not be. The Peer Review is a development instrument, not an evaluation tool. Using peer review results in employment decisions, disciplinary actions, or performance reviews is explicitly outside the intended use of this product and exposes organizations to legal risk that TALINT cannot accept liability for.

The instrument is designed for awareness. The data belongs to the person being reviewed.

What do I get with the Snapshot?

The Snapshot is free. Complete the assessment and your primary Role Strength is revealed with its complete four-part narrative: what you look like at your best, your shadow side, what drives you, and why this sounds familiar. Your other three Role Strengths are visible as labels only. No account required. No payment.

What do I get with the Full Assessment?

The Full Assessment ($49) includes:

All four Role Strengths with complete narratives · Fuel/Drain profile across four dimensions · Communication Type profile across five dimensions · Full Report HTML (interactive, open in any browser) · Team Card PDF and HTML ready to share

Results are emailed as attachments within minutes of payment.

What is a Team Card?

The Team Card is a single-page operational profile designed to answer one question: what do I need to know to work with this person effectively? It includes your top two Role Strengths with team-facing descriptions, your Fuel/Drain wiring, your Communication profile, and a Do and Don't for teammates.

It is delivered as both a PDF and an interactive HTML file. It is designed to be shared.

How is TALINT different from DiSC or MBTI?

DiSC and MBTI sort people into types. TALINT does not assign types, labels, or categories. The outputs are behavioral and dimensional — specific to how you actually operate, not which box you fit into. TALINT also includes the shadow side, which neither DiSC nor MBTI does systematically. Knowing what will trip you up is not a growth edge — it is operational data.

How is TALINT different from Gallup StrengthsFinder?

StrengthsFinder tells you what you are good at. TALINT tells you what will trip you up. Gallup omits the shadow side by design — the product is built around positive framing. TALINT includes the downside of every strength because that is where the real operational value is. The peer review layer adds what StrengthsFinder cannot: how the people around you actually experience your strengths and liabilities in practice.

How is TALINT different from 360 feedback tools?

Traditional 360 tools involve long cycles, high admin overhead, HR management, and results that take weeks to arrive. TALINT's peer layer is 18 behavioral questions. Anonymous. Results emailed immediately after each submission. No admin cycle. No HR required. The instrument targets the gap between intent and impact — the zone that only the people around you can see.

Can TALINT be used for hiring?

TALINT is a development and performance instrument, not a hiring or screening tool. Using TALINT results as the basis for hiring, promotion, demotion, termination, or compensation decisions is outside its intended use. Organizations that use it for those purposes accept full responsibility for that use.
